I Am A Bad, Bad Knitblogger
Sorry I haven't posted in AGES. My new work computer is set up really strange. I uploaded a bunch of pictures off of my digital camera to post here and they are on my desktop, but not on the terminal server I actually work on. And I can't figure out how to copy them over. I know NOTHING about this kind of thing, so I may be reduced to uploading images at home, which sucks because we have dial-up. Well, in my blog absence I've been working on my sock that will never end*, but I also made a pinwheel blankie as a wedding gift for my friend who's getting married tomorrow. (I want to join the knitalong and make another, but can't post the stupid picture there either!) Imagine, if you will, this gorgeous pinwheel blankie--or, in this case, pinwheel lap blankie, as my friend has no children yet: 3 skeins of Noro Silk Garden** in color 205 (? I don't have the skein wrapper with me here)--a gorgeous purple mixture with shots of teal and fuschia. I am in love and supremely jealous. This serves as evidence to myself that I'm not the truly bad person I sometimes think I am, because I am giving this to my friend although it feels as though it was MEANT TO BE WITH ME. I love, love, love this blanket [gulp]. I also knit about 1.5" around in stockinette with a beautiful variegated purple from Steadfast Fibers Wonderful Wool (I believe it's third from the left in the top row here). Then--dear God, THEN--I spent two days making gorgeous tassle-y fringe that went all around the edge. It is breathtaking. The most beautiful thing my hands have ever touched, let alone been responsible for making. And it is absolutely breaking my heart to even THINK about giving this away. I am a sucker. So...maybe Monday or something I can figure out how to post the picture so you too can appreciate it in all its purple-hued glory. *The sock that will not end is basically my own fault. It's pretty, and it's nice and portable, but I am itching to do something more exciting, like Scoop du Jour. After scouring all the shops near me that even sell Cotton-Ease (why, why would they discontinue this??), I cleaned out a JoAnn's miles away from work and home buying enough CE to make Scoop du Jour in Bubblegum, and to make the lacy wrap from Stitch 'n Bitch Nation in Candy Blue (couldn't find a pic to link to). **I can't believe I went this long without using Noro Silk Garden! I still think Kureyon would be horrid to work with, but SG seemed to actually soften as I went along. And the halo with the mohair is just divine. It should be mine, Mine, MINE! |

Hey stranger! Glad you're still with us. I am LOVING that pinwheel blankie! Where'd you find the pattern for that??? I also am in LOVE with noro silk garden...knits up pretty and has good drape. Hang in there with the pic thing. I'm afraid I can't help you there.
